"For the last few years
Lorraine has fought ill health - in particular a heart valve replacement &
double bypass and Motor Neurone Disease, as well as other adversities.
MND took her speech, her
mobility, her breath but never her humour, tenacity and bloody mindedness!. She
ensured she was never excluded from any conversations by rapidly putting pen to
pad to laugh, argue, direct & swear (and on occasions such in the case of a
white van who cut us up create a rude drawing)!
When we were told in January
2016 that Lorraine probably had MND her attitude was - lets go on holiday!
Starting with a 13 day cruise up the Norwegian Coast & Fjords, numerous
weekends away and later in the year 3 magical weeks in India. The arrival of
her uncle from Australia in the summer gave her the opportunity to meet up
again with many of her relatives.
Although much weaker
nevertheless in July this year she had a stall & fundraised for mnd at the
Big Skill Hay craft festival; had weekends away; took a dive out of her
wheelchair because she was f.......ed if she was going to wait any longer for
someone to help her up a ramp in her wheelchair.! In August, besides attending
2 outdoor theatres she was determined that mnd would not prevent her from
attending again the 4 day Green Man Festival. In September even with her health
deteriorating and struggling with fatigue and discomfort she still
carried on enjoying life and spent her last 2 weekends away with her family;
and she was even planning for us to go to Bilbao in October!
I along with many other
family and friends have been privileged and gutted to be with her on her fight
with mnd. Please carry on that fight and donate to the Motor Neurone Disease
Association. Thank you" . Trevor
Lorraine's humanist green
burial will be held on Friday 13th October (she would have loved that) at
Westall Park, Holberrow Green, B96 6JY, followed by tributes and refreshments
at The Old Bull (the Arches pub) Inkberrow WR7 4DZ. No flowers please just
donations, your company and your memories of Lorraine
